These things you should not do after eating food

To look good and being fit are most important these days.We keep track of our calories intake and all but there are few things you need to take care of.There must be lot of things that you might have heard that things you should not do after having a meal..So here are 6 dangerous acts you should avoid after a meal..If you want your body to function properly...

Avoid Tea

 One of the addictions in India is the Tea addiction.For some people tea is like their celebration but when it comes to drink tea after meal... is that a good idea? ..Tea affects our digestion because it is acidic in nature.It will make our digestion very slow which in turn can cause you bloating. if you are consuming food which has protein in it, it will harden the protein content and make it difficult  to digest it.Many people go restless if they did not get a cup of tea after meal. The alternate to this is Green tea. Green tea will help your food minerals to get absorb in your body. So switch to green Tea.

Avoid Fruits

 To eat fruits is a healthy choice but there is a proper time to eat it. If we eat fruits after our meal it will cause the indigestion which can cause the acidity.This is because they do not get digested easily. You should eat fruits one hour before taking the meal.

Avoid Sleeping

Some people feel very sleepy after having meal. But it is not good for our body. When we eat and sleep what happens is there a food in our belly and it needs to be digested  even after the but our body can digest food in upright position of the body like if we are sitting or standing. So if we lay down our body will not b able to digest food and we will end up feeling full even after the nap..

Avoid bathing

Bathing is the best thing during summers but is that a good idea after a meal?...we should not bath after taking a meal.  When we take food, the blood stream starts flowing in the digestive system to help the digestion process but if we take bath right after bathing it will reduce our body temperature.The blood will now be rushed into the arms, legs ,towards the skin to moderate the body temperature. So we should avoid taking bath right after having a meal.

Avoid Smoking

Do not ever smoke cigarette right after eating food. Smoking one cigarette after a meal is equivalent to smoking 10 cigarettes.The nicotine present in the cigarette binds with the oxygen in the blood because at that time it is more easily absorbed in the blood.This can increase the risk of bowl cancer and lung cancer.

Avoid Heavy Exercise

Workout is a good idea but there is a time to do that. We should not workout after a meal because our body temperature will be increased and blood flow will also increased. this will not help our body to digest food.We will feel sluggish even after the workout, The best thing is to walk. walking will help in digestion.

Avoid Brushing

It is a good habit to brush your teeth after having a meal but not immediately after eating.Our tooth enamel is the hardest substance in our body. But when we eat food, acids are created which stick on the teeth.During meals, acids level gets elevated and your teeth are at the weakest level.So we should not brush our teeth right after having meal.Our body has a natural way to correct the high levels of acids. So wait for at least a hour after a meal and then you can brush your teeth

About Cholesterol | Understanding HDL and LDL cholesterol

 Let's start with what cholesterol is and its types.


What is Cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that is found in all the cells in your body. As it is fat like substance so it does not mix with the blood, which is water like.

Is Cholesterol essential for our body?

For proper functioning your body needs some cholesterol. Cholesterol is used to build cell membranes and also produce some hormones that help you to digest foods.It also helps to produce Vitamin D.

What transports cholesterol through out the body?

Cholesterol is transported around the body in vehicles which are known as lipoproteins.

The main types of lipoproteins are High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). HDL,LDL, and triglycerides are a type of fat that are carried in the blood and that make up total cholesterol levels.

HDL ('The Good Cholesterol') : It is like a cleaner  for cholesterol in the body. When HDL is at healthy levels in your blood, it removes extra cholesterol building up  in your arteries and then sends it to your liver.Your liver then removes the cholesterol from your body.So this will help to reduce the risk of heart disease, that is, heart attack and stroke.


LDL(
'The Bad Cholesterol'): This is bad cholesterol because this cholesterol combines with fat,calcium and other substances in the blood to form plaque. Plaque then slowly builds up and hardens in the arteries which makes them narrow.This buildup of plaque causes a condition called atherosclerosis that can lead to heart disease, heart attack and stroke.

There are usually no signs or symptoms that are associated with building up cholesterol in our arteries,this is the main reason that many people don't know that they have high levels of cholesterol. The cholesterol in our arteries slow down the blood supply to the heart. This can cause chest pain, pain in the arms or jaw, sweating, or shortness of breath.These blockages can cause major problem.For some people the first sign may be a heart attack or the stroke

Dry Hair: Causes and Remedies

Every women has a dream of having soft and silky hair but unfortunately, some of us are born with hair that is dull and dry by nature.



We often see celebrities on television showing perfect glowy hair and we rush to buy those so called miracle products that will help us to achieve the same lustrous hair. But results we get are not the same. So why we are still dealing with dryness when we pay so much attention to our hair? It is because of lack of knowledge about hair. To make it right you must have right information and i am here to share that with you.


Causes of Dry Hair

Your hair is dry because your scalp is not able to hold the moisture. hair has no natural lubrication.It relies on the oils made in the hair root to keep hair moisturized.Sometimes hair is not able to hold that oil and it causes dryness. As you age your hair start making less oil. So here i am going to explain some common causes of dry hair.


Excessive use of heat styling tools


Heat styling tools are great for giving your hair a awesome look but they can also leave your hair dry and damaged. Straighteners, curling irons,blow dryers are the tools that can give you a great look but have really bad effects on hair.Your hair contains keratin protein and hydrogen bonds.When we use these heating tools they affect the natural oil and protein by breaking down its hydrogen bond.This breaking of hydrogen bonds is the main reason for the look we want through these tools.


Over washing


If you shampoo your hair daily or 5-6 times a week, then this is the main reason for dryness of hair. Too much of shampooing your hair can drain the oil from your scalp leaving your scalp dry and itchy.You should wash your hair twice or thrice a week following by oiling your scalp once a week.


Using the wrong hair products


You should know what type of hair you have and must buy a shampoo which will help with that problem.There are different shampoos for different types of hair. If your hair are dry you should use moisturizing shampoo. Suppose you bought that shampoo which is for oily hair, it will drain more oil from scalp leaving your scalp more dry.

Procedure


Take coconut milk as per your hair length and volume.This is homemade coconut milk. You can also buy this from market,but i prefer homemade so if you want to know how to extract coconut milk at home click here.



 Add honey to it. I have used patanjali honey here. You can use your favorite brand.


Add 2 spoons to it.

The mixture is ready. You can also add olive oil to it. but it is optional.


Apply this mixture on your hair and leave it for 1 hour. After that rinse with mild shampoo and you will really feel the difference with the one use only.Use twice a week for best results.


Reason for using coconut milk


Coconut milk helps to restore the shine of dry an damaged hair. it also helps to soothe and treat itchiness and dandruff on the scalp.It is also a awesome natural conditioner which provides thicker and longer hair.

Honey is known as a humectant, which means it helps seal in moisture. Honey increases the coconut milk positiveness when mixed with it.

How to Extract Coconut Milk at Home

It's been 5 months that i am using coconut products because i shifted to South India.Coconut milk is the best alternative to cow's milk or any other milk.It is not very expensive to buy canned coconut milk here but i always prefer the homemade which is more healthier and fresh one.


Coconut milk can be used in many ways like in curries,sweets,smoothies etc
It works miracles for people with dry skin and dry scalp.See how coconut milk helps in dry hair problem.

Step by step coconut milk recepie

Ingredients
A coconut
Milk

                   Take a coconut 
 Cut it into two halves as shown in the picture
 Remove the white meat from inside the coconut
Now peel the brown layer of the white meat

After peeling it will look like this
 Chop the large pieces into smaller ones
Now blend it. You need to add the milk according to the need. Keep adding milk untill it is totally blend. In my case i used half cup of milk.It will look like this.
Place a cotton cloth or cheesecloth over a bowl and place that blended mixture over it.
Now lift up the cloth and strain the milk firmly

This is how you extract the coconut milk from a fresh coconut.It takes a bit more work but both the flavor and freshness are infinitely better and definitely worth all the hard work!

Today i am going to review Revlon Colorstay kajal. The makeup i use includes only kajal ans lipsticks. I am totally against these foundations and concealers. I have tried a lot of kajal till now so will be reviewing each of them. First comes the Revlon Colorstay One stroke Defining eyeliner kajal.
This was gifted to me by my husband before marriage so this is pretty special to me.

My experience with Revlon Colorstay one stroke Defining Eyeliner in Blackest Black

This kajal is the darkest kajal i have ever used. In darkness it is on no 1 position. It has a very creamy texture. Only one stroke is enough for waterline.It gets applied like a butter on your water line.It is very creamy.But the problem is you need to sharpen the pencil after using once or twice.It has a silicone gel structure formula which enables it to go smoothly on waterline.My style of applying kajal is little different. I only apply kajal to half of my upper lash line and not on waterline.


But i am little disappointed with its staying power. It starts smudging after 3-4 hours. You need to really powder your eye and make them dry to make it last for at least 6 hours.


What i like about Revlon Color Stay One Stroke Defining Eyeliner Kajal

Darkest colour
Creamy texture
Very easy to apply on top and bottom of the eyes.
Does not sting
Just one stroke is enough for the perfect black line on the eyes


What i don't like about Revlon Color Stay One Stroke Defining Eyeliner Kajal

Lasts for maximum 5-6 hours.
Sharpening results in wastage.
Not smudge proof
Slightly overpriced considering its quality

Summary
Texture wise best kajal i have ever used. Best for smoky eyes, but unfortunately it makes me feel sad by seeing all that money being sharped away.But you should definitely give it a try :)

CDC: Drug-resistant 'nightmare bacteria' is growing threat

Nightmare bacteria has resistant to antibiotics. What is worse than that? This bacteria has the potential to spread their resistance to other germs in the body.




Researchers found that last year, there was about 200 cases of these "Nightmare bacteria" but in new research report from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) these bacteria have popped up all over country in 27 states. It has increased up to 200 times.


This problem mostly strikes people who are in hospitals and nursing homes. In many cases, people who are in close contact with these patients also got infected with this bacteria, even though they were not sick.


Infection from this bacteria are "virtually untreatable with modern medicine," CDC Principal Deputy Director Dr. Anne Schuchat said in a press briefing Tuesday.



CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook reports that the death rate can be as high as 50 percent.
"For the first time in 2017 there was a nationwide survey and they found that infections from these kinds of bacteria were more common than expected," LaPook said.
Preventing these bugs from spreading is essential to controlling the antibiotic resistance crisis, the CDC says.
 The CDC defines "unusual resistance" as germs that cannot be killed by all or most antibiotics and are currently uncommon in the U.S.
The researchers have come up with an strategy that can help to identify track and contain these germs, which appears to help stop their spread.
"We are working to get in front of them before they do become common," Dr Anne Schuchat, Principal Deputy Director of CDC.
Some of the sick patients had traveled for surgery or other health care to another country where these drug resistant germs are more common, and the superbug infection was discovered after they returned to the US.

Wash your hands regularly and keep cuts clean until healed

Acne: Symptoms,Causes, Treatment

Our skin is the reflection of our overall health.Acne, blackheads etc indicates the disturbance in good health.Acne problem is a very common problem these days. From teenager to adult most of them are  suffering from acne.
Acne can be painful and irritable. If they are left untreated, acne can also lead to scars on face,back and arms and can also lead to long term hyper-pigmentation. 

What is Acne?
Acne is a inflammatory skin condition that causes pimples on face, shoulders, back , neck and upper arms. Treatment of acne depends on how severe and persistent it is.
Most of the time it can be treated through natural remedies but if the condition is too severe, you need to visit a Dermatologist.
Causes of Acne

There can be many reasons for acne.Here i am explaining some of them.

Hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin: 

Our face, back chest,shoulders have most of the oil glands and the hair follicles are connected to the oil glands. This follicle wall can cause blackhead or white head.
If this follicle wall gets bulge, it can cause a whitehead. If the pore is left open it can cause the darkening of surface causing blackhead. This blackhead is actually filled with bacteria and oil. This turns black when exposed to air.

 Hormones 

During puberty in boys and girls there is a hormone known as Androgens  increases which causes sebaceous gland to enlarge and make them produce more sebum. This is the major reason of acne in teenagers.

 Diet

We know that what we eat affects our skin directly and it can be a cause of pimple also.
There was a research based on the study of 115 people in Eastern Paraguay and 1200 individuals in Papua New Guinea. The individuals lived on a diet of self raised lean meats and fresh plant foods and as a result of which not even a single person had acne on their skin.Based on this evidence, researchers concluded that the diet which contains mostly starches and sugars and fried foods are the main reason for acne.

There is also a study which has showed the results that acne is also related to dairy products.In 2005, an article in the journal of the American Academy of Dermatology  proved this relation. It was seen that much of the milk consumed is produced by pregnant cows who pump out progesterone,IGF-1 which is then passed to milk. this hormone can trigger the oil glands to produce more oil.

Make-up

 When we apply foundations or concealer make up on our skin, it fills our pores and prevents our skin from breathing. this can worsen the acne.I don't understand why we are obsessed with  make up. Just to look good? is that only face that we need to show the world? what about our work, our health? think about it !!

Stress 

When stress level is increased, adrenal glands increase the production of the male Hormone Androgen, which signals sebaceous oil glands to secrete more sebum.As this excess oil builds up, acne is more likely to develop.

Birth Control Pills

Birth control pills can also affects the hormone level in women. According to Huffington Post , birth control pills that are androgen based are the reason for the acne

Home remedies for Acne

Conventional treatment of acne is quite expensive and can cause side effects too like itchiness and dryness. these treatments make our skin to depend on products only like if we stop using these products there are most chances that acne can appear again. 

Acne can be cured at home. I have used these products myself and they are organic products so they do not have any side effects.Before sharing those steps i would suggest you to change your day routine.
All these things take time to show difference. They will not change your face with in a day you just need to have little patience.
1.GET UP LITTLE EARLY AND WORKOUT IN FRESH AIR.
Your lungs try to take in as much oxygen as possible when you run or exercise in fresh air. The heart then pumps out blood throughout your body including skin which gives a radiant look right after your workout.This keeps your skin fresh and smooth. 5–6 days workout in a week is enough. :)

2. EAT HEALTHY

Now this is the main part. I am not saying to change your diet plan or do not eat food. Eat every kind of healthy food.
1 thing you need to change in your food is to use less oil.
Include these things in your diet and you will be able to see changes in your skin and hair within one month. and this is compulsory. you can’t skip that
  • JUICES: any fruit juice, beetroot juice, carrot juice,bitter gourd(karela), Azadirachta indica (neem) juice. these juices purifies blood.
  • FRUITS: try to eat every seasonal fruit. but do eat apple everyday
  • VEGETABLES: try to include green vegetables in your food
  • DRY FRUITS: almonds,apricot,cashew nut, dates, dried dates, flax seeds, peanuts,walnuts,watermelon seeds. but eat very little quantity eg 2–3 pieces per day
  • SALADS: add salads with your lunch and breakfast.

3. DRINK 5–6 LITERS OF WATER PER DAY
Water should be your best friend. Do 1 thing always keep 1 liter of bottle with you. and refill that bottle 5–6 times. Drinking water will flush all the toxins from your body and this will keep your skin clear.

4. DRINK WARM LEMON WATER EVERY MORNING
Take 1 glass of warm water add 2 tea spoon of lemon juice in it. Drink this every morning empty stomach. Lemon cleanses your digestive system and boosts immune system.There are numerous benefits of this solution . 

5. HOME MADE FACE WASH
 First you need to know what kind of skin type you have. oily,dry or combination
  • FACE WASH FOR OILY SKIN:
INGREDIENTS:
  • gram flour or besan
  • lemon drops
  • fuller’s earth or multani mitti
  • neem leaves
Procedure: add 1 table spoon gram flour, 1 tablespoon of fuller’s earth, half of lemon drops, and grinded neem leaves in it . and add water or rose water to make a paste. Use this mixture as a face wash every morning and night .
  • FACE WASH FOR DRY SKIN:
INGREDIENTS:
  • vitamin E capsules
  • honey
  • aloe vera gel
Procedure: add half tea spoon of aloe vera gel, few drops of honey and few drops of vitamin E oil which is in capsules. vitamin E capsules are available easily in any medical store near you and its price is also very low around 22 rs for 10 capsules. You can use 1 capsule at 1 time. Mix all ingredients and apply on your face as face wash every morning and night before going to bed.
Combination skin people can use himalaya neem face wash . It is very good for that skin type.
6. HOME MADE FACE PACKS
  • ORANGE PEEL FACE PACK(FOR COMBINATION AND OILY SKIN)
INGREDIENTS
ORGANIC ORANGE PEEL POWDER.
I personally use this one.This is 100% natural.
Procedure: add 1 table spoon of this powder and add rose water or gulab jal in it to make a paste and apply it on face . Leave it on face for 30 min and wash with normal water. Use this face pack four times a week.This will remove dark spots from your face and will also lighten your skin tone
curd face pack(for dry and combination skin):
Just apply simple curd on your face every day for about 20 minutes and this will work miraculously. After removing this face pack do not wash your face with face wash. You can wash with face wash after one hour
herbal lemon face pack: (oily and combination skin )
i personally use this one.this is also 100% natural.
Add 1 tablespoon of this powder in a bowl and mix with gulab jal or rose water. make a paste and apply this on your face for 30 minutes.
You can use this 3 times a week. this will lighten your skin tone remove dark spots and will prevent pimple growth.
7. APPLY ALOE VERA GEL EVERY NIGHT BEFORE GOING TO BED
After water, aloe vera gel should be your best friend. It doesn’t matter whether u have oily or dry skin you can apply this gel.
i use this patanjali’s aloe vera gel. you can use this as a moisturizer . apply this on your face before going to bed. aloe vera gel prevents acne and makes your skin smooth. :)
i have followed all these steps and now my face is healing slowly.
